Masonicare is proud to launch the Behind the Mask campaign to raise awareness and funds for critical mental health initiatives in our community. Behind the Mask is about removing the stigma of mental illness by building awareness across the community so more people can benefit from appropriate mental health assistance and care.
The impact of mental illness within the Australian population has become increasingly apparent. Mental illness directly impacts 1 in 5 Australians and is among the greatest cause of disability, diminished quality of life, and reduced productivity. Masonicare will be launching a number of initiatives over the next 12 months as part of the Behind the Mask program, culminating in our Behind the Mask gala ball in 2012. This is an issue that impacts us all, so help us to take off the mask of mental illness. MASONICARE 'BEHIND THE MASK' SUPPORTING MOVEMBER As our first initiative for the Behind the Mask campaign, Masonicare has partnered with the Grand Lodge STEP Program to support Movember, an initiative that raises money for Men's health issues. During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in Australia and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men through the Prostate Cancer Foundation and beyondblue: the national depression initiative. Masonicare has pledged to match all funds raised across our jurisdiction, in support of Movember, on a dollar for dollar basis (up to $10,000), practically doubling our efforts as a Fraternity to support this worthwhile cause. |
