Masonicare's Marketing Officer

A lilting Irish accent greets enquirers to Masonicare as Evelyn Elsted employs her marketing experience to the Grand Lodge charity.

Born in Waterford, in southern Ireland, Evelyn came to Australia in June 2009 with her Partner Philip and has definite plans on making it her permanent home.

“Originally I came here for a year but fell in love with the country and decided to stay. When I was younger I always wanted to go to Australia. I don’t know why but probably because so many young people went there for a working holiday and came back saying how amazing it is so I wanted to try it for myself,” she said.

Evelyn, who earned a degree in marketing after four years study, worked in the marketing section for Waterford Crystal and stayed in the industry in Ireland before coming to Australia. She was in marketing at Sydney’s Olympic Park and then applied for the Grand Lodge position, making the short list and winning selection.

“I had been with different charities in Ireland, liked the work and was very interested in the Sydney position which I now thoroughly enjoy.”

Evelyn, who has a younger sister and brother, named her parents as her best role models and hopes to get them to come to Australia to visit at some stage. She still has a passion for traveling, touring South East Asia before coming to Australia.

“I’ve already traveled around a lot of Australia and love seeing new places. There’s so much here to see and do,” she said.
